That’s the word of the day. I started a new job today. One might wonder, what does a new job have to do with running. Well running is one thing I do with my time. The other 22 hours in the day I devote to other things, like sleeping, working, reading, you get the idea. So I have a feeling my new job is going to take up more time than my old job did, it’s going to take some getting used to. In the meantime, I ran through my tempo run today in a fog and now that I’m home about to tuck into bed I barely remember the workout. Probably best to be forgotten since what I do recall was not pleasant. Tired and lethargic on the treadmill, I chose to run on the treadmill today so I could monitor my time properly. But I’m confident I’ll be able to run and pace myself outside soon.
Apprehension; I was apprehensive about my first day on the job, apprehensive about if I would stay awake on the train home, and apprehensive if my legs would keep moving through the 40 minute tempo run. But my apprehension was pushed aside like the fog I ran in and I got through the first day, managed to stay awake on the train and finish my run. All in all, a good day. I only hope I can organize myself for the time my new job requires and the devotion required for the marathon training. I’m sure I’ll do it, but the fact is, we all get a bit apprehensive sometimes. I guess all we can do is keep on running.
