So the marathon is called the Nike Women’s Marathon, but it’s not just for girls, boys can run too. But I have to say, I didn’t see too many men at the expo today when I picked up my race packet. There were a lot of women prancing around and the stalls set up were very “women-centric”. At the expo today I could have gotten a massage, a mani or pedi, tested Nike Women’s sneaks or purchased something in the beautiful pink and purple colors of the race. I did buy a cool Nike T, it is purple with pink flowers. I don’t know how many (straight) men would feel comfortable enough with their masculinity to wear that, but I thought it was awesome.
My bib number is 2343. Yeah! I believe there are over 10,000 people running this race on Sunday, it’s going to be so great. It’s raining right now but it is supposed to be clear and in the high 60’s on Sunday. I would prefer it to be in the 50’s, but I am not complaining. Anything beats the 90’s it hit in Chicago two weeks ago for my friends running that race.
The NYC TNT group is meeting tomorrow morning at 8.45am to have a nice 20 min jog and face time with our crazy coach Ramon, we decorate our shirts at 3, eat heaps of pasta at 5 and then probably get into bed around 8 for a 4am wake up call on Sunday. Yeah! (lots of Yeah’s in this entry).
So I don’t know if I’ll get another chance to get online until the race is done but I am feeling really good about the race and my race plan and my training. Thank you Team in Training. And thank you to everyone who supported me in this endeavor, with your help I hit my fundraising goal today of $5,000. My amazement at being able to raise that much money for such an amazing cause is beyond words. Happy running!
